The SJAHS is looking for volunteers to knit or crochet poppies for our Remembrance Day celebration in the park on November 11, 2025.

It is a project that has been started in other towns and cities and we would like to join in by displaying hundreds of red poppies lovingly knitted or crocheted by our community in memory of the sacrifices offered by our military. All you have to do is knit or crochet a few or more poppies and let us know. We will arrange pick up in the area. We will display all the poppies at our Remembrance Day Service on Nov. 11.

Click to see both crochet and knitted poppy patterns.

Thank you for expressing an interest in our St. Joseph and Area Historical Society Poppy Project.  We hold a local community Remembrance Day Service in the St. Joseph Memorial Park each November 11th at 11 am.
This year we will add a wall of knitted and crocheted red poppies.  We have attached patterns for red poppies with black centres.  Any shade of red wool can be used. If you do not have red and/or black wool we have some on hand for you to use.  We will be tying the finished poppies to fish netting to create a wall of poppies that can be rolled up and stored to be used each November 11th.
As a community, with your help, we hope to turn the park red for Remembrance Day.
Once you knit or crochet the poppies we can arrange pick up or delivery.  Any number of poppies will be appreciated.
